Almost two hundred distribution transformers to Qatar
Sissach, Switzerland, March 2022 – One hundred and ninety-six transformers are to be delivered in 2022 and 2023 for the main transmission and distribution system operator in Qatar. All transformers will be manufactured in an R&S Rauscher & Stoecklin factory in Sissach, Switzerland.
R&S Rauscher & Stoecklin had to meet special requirements including transformers’ operating in highly demanding environments such as sandy conditions and temperatures around 50°C. Moreover, transformers successfully passed the most demanding type test that is routinely performed on distribution transformers – the dynamic short circuit test. The Swiss company received test certificates for both 1000 kVA and the 1600 kVA transformers confirming that the testing unit passed the short circuit test according to IEC 60076-5. Tests were performed in a testing lab by KEMA in Arnhem, the Netherlands, during a week in May 2021.
