High current connectors for world’s longest tunnel

Sissach, Switzerland, March 2019 – In August 2018, the construction company PORR, one of the biggest construction companies in Austria, won the tender for the Brenner Base Tunnel. It is the biggest tunnelling project in Austria and will reduce the travel time for passengers from Innsbruck in Austria to Fortezza in Italy significantly. Rauscher & Stoecklin with its partner Siblik Elektrik GmbH & Co KG provided plugs and sockets and the connector units that provide 100% safety.

Rauscher & Stoecklin AG has won the electrification tender for high current connectors for the Brenner Base Tunnel project. Despite the strong competition from France and Sweden, Rauscher & Stoecklin convinced the customer with their high-quality products, low maintenance costs and fast delivery times. Once finished, the Brenner Base Tunnel will be the world’s longest tunnel and puts the Gotthard Base Tunnel at 57km in second place.
