Upgrade of 420 kV disconnectors from 40 kA to 50 kA
Plzeň, Czech Republic, May 2020 – End-user ČEPS needs to upgrade its 420 kV disconnectors from 40 kA to 50 kA due to the increasing load of the grid. R&S SERW, together with Czech company PROFI EMG, will replace the current paths, guaranteeing an optimal and fast solution.
The existing 420 kV horizontal and vertical disconnectors are designed for the short-circuit current of 40 kA. Because of the increasing load of the grid, it is necessary to upgrade to a higher short-circuit capacity of 50 kA. The replacement of the current path is faster than replacing the complete disconnector.
Some specifications of the project:
- New current paths for 420 kV disconnectors
- New earthing switches for 420 kV disconnectors
- Installation, adjustments, putting into service and tests on site
- Duration of the project from July 2020 to June 2021
- Substation Výškov
- Similar projects already planned for some other substations of ČEPS
The time of delivery is given according to the switching plan of the substation, and is unchangeable, which means higher pressure on the coordination and production processes of R&S SERW.
