Mondi Paper Mill in Slovakia
Subbiano Arezzo, Italy, May 2020 – In May 2019, Tesar signed a contract for the delivery of 19 converter transformers for the extension of the Mondi Paper Mill PM19 in Ružomberok, Slovakia. The transformers were delivered at the beginning of 2020 with the support of the local distributor, El Insta Energo.
The Paper Mill in Ružomberok is one of Mondi’s largest plants. With a production capacity of 560,000 tonnes of uncoated fine paper, 66,000 tonnes of packaging paper and 100,000 tonnes of market pulp, it is the biggest integrated mill producing paper and pulp in the Slovakian Republic.
The delivered transformers have been designed to withstand the harmonic distortion (THDi = 25%) given by the converters installed in the Paper Mill. Tesar supported the client in understanding the effects of harmonic distortion on transformers and in defining the best technical solution to guarantee a fully reliable product.
Some specifications of the project:
- A total of 19 converter transformers
- Designed to withstand the given harmonic distortion
- 15 transformers with 4,000 kVA – 11/0.72 kV
- 4 transformers with 3,150 kVA – 11/0.42 kV
- Comprehensive support
