Transformer for the Valmadrera Cogeneration Plant

Subbiano Arezzo, Italy, October 2018 – Tesar will deliver a 16.000 kVA cast resin transformer to the waste-to-energy plant in Valmadrera, Italy in the first quarter of 2019. There, the transformer will transform the voltage level from the steam turbines, operating by waste incineration, to the needed voltage level for the electricity grid.

The construction of the incinerator is managed by the public company Silea and will include a new steam turbine combined with a relevant alternator. The company collects waste that cannot be recycled and transfers it to the waste-to-energy plant in Valmadrera in Italy.

The contractor of this project, Franco Tosi S.p.A., a well-known turbine manufacturer based in Legnano MI, contracted Tesar for designing, producing and testing a special cast resin transformer with the following characteristics:
• Rated power 16.000 kVA
• Ratio 15 / 6kV
• Custom-made design
• Short delivery time

Thanks to its experience and ability to satisfy all the required performances, Tesar won this national tender for a 16.000 kVA cast resin transformer. This important project represents a further step forward for Tesar in the field of heating and cogeneration plants.
