Matterhorn region Switzerland

Sissach, Switzerland, July 2018 – Two coupling transformers were put into operation at a height of 2’939m in the Matterhorn region of Switzerland. The complex transport operation started in the early morning in order to prevent any disturbance of the visitors. With the help of the local ropeway, the transformers reached their final destination at a height of 2’939m.

At the beginning of July 2018, Rauscher & Stoecklin delivered two coupling transformers to Zermatt, Switzerland. With the transportation partner company, Michel Krantrans GmbH, the two transformers were brought up to the bottom station « Furi » with a height of 1’867m. From there, the transportation continued with the ropeway to the station “Trockener Steg” at a height of 2’939m where the transformers have been installed.

The installation of the two 2500kVA transformers pursued different objectives:
• Separation of impedances
• Improvement of selectivity
• Voltage increase and adjustment

Simplified: The galvanic isolation from the electrical network operating installations in the mountain to the electrical distribution network of the village of Zermatt.

The customer, Elektrizitätswerk Zermatt, has been committed to the quality of Rauscher & Stoecklin for years. Thanks to the high-quality products and the smooth transport operation, the customer was again fully satisfied with the provided solution.
