Utility Approval for Cast Resin Transformers in Oman
Subbiano Arezzo, Italy, September 2020 – Tesar has completed the second step for obtaining the complete and final utility approval for cast resin transformers in Oman. The company successfully passed all the tests on a prototype representing rating powers of ≤1600kVA. The certificate was issued by the Omani electrical utility called Distribution Code Review Panel (DCRP).
To sell its products in Oman from 2018 on, it is mandatory to have an approval certificate from the Omani electrical utility DCRP. Concerning the 2000kVA transformer, Tesar already received the certificate at the end of 2018. Now, Tesar is the only company that has received approval certificates for all the rating powers 2000kVA, 1600kVA, 1000kVA, 630kVA and 500kVA. “It is a great and proud moment for Tesar, since we are the only authorized company to sell the full range of cast resin transformers to Oman”, stated Luca Procino, Area Sales Manager Middle East.
Some specifications about the certificate:
- 2000kVA and/or 1600kVA and/or 1000kVA and/or 630kVA and/or 500kVA – 11/0.433kV cast resin transformers
- In full compliance with the OES37 standard
- For distribution purposes
“Tesar has been able to fulfil all the technical, testing and reliability requirements and thus is authorized to enter the approved vendors list of the Omani utilities”, Mr. Procino added.
The Italy-based company has been a pioneer for cast resin transformers in the Omani market, supplying the first one in 2001, when nobody was aware of this technology in Oman. As of today, Tesar has also been the first to be approved for the full range of products according to the first technical standard for cast resin transformers issued in Oman, which is the OES37 standard.
About the DCRP
Based on article 90 of the Royal Decree 78/2004 of the law for the regulation and privatization of the electricity and related water sector in Oman, the Distribution Code Review Panel, short DCRP, was brought to life. The Product Approval Section of the DCRP is concerned with the approval of electrical products in the distribution network below 132kV. This will pave the way for the best technology to be included in the distribution network complying with the Oman Electrical Standards (OES).
