First order for K-Electric in Karachi, Pakistan

Subbiano Arezzo, Italy, May 2021 Tesar has completed all the steps for obtaining the final approval for supplying their products from K-Electric (KE) in Karachi. The scope of deliveries will include various types of cast resin transformers.

KE is the only vertically-integrated power utility in Pakistan, which means the organization manages all three key areas – generation, transmission and distribution – of producing and delivering energy to consumers.

For K-Electric it is the first order for cast resin transformers. Until now, they have used oil filled transformers, so this is a giant step for them. The challenge was to find the right manufacturer that would be able to fully technically meet their requirements according to the specification.

It is mandatory to have special approval for selling transformers in Karachi state – Pakistan. Only Tesar has been able to fulfil all the technical, testing and reliability requirements, to satisfy the Karachi state utility in order to enter in their approved vendors list.

Currently Tesar is finalizing the supply of the first cast resin transformers for K-Electric.

Some specifications of the project:

  • the product: 1000kVA and/or 750kVA and/or 630kVA and/or 500kVA – 11/0.42kV cast resin transformers, in full compliance with K-Electric standard, for distribution
  • initial supply: May 2021
