Five-year contract for Stadtwerk Winterthur
Sissach, Switzerland, November 2022 – R&S Rauscher & Stoecklin won a contract for delivery distribution transformers for Stadtwerk Winterthur – the company supplying electricity to the city of Winterthur.
The signing of the contract is based on the good cooperation between the two companies and successful deliveries of transformers to Winterthur in recent years. The current agreement is for five years, with an option to renew for another five years.
Transformers specification:
- Switchable oil-type distribution transformers with low radiation
- Including stand-alone oil retention vats
- Voltage: 11/22kV, 0.4kV
- Power rates: 400kVA, 630kVA and 1000kVA
Last year Stadtwerk Winterthur decided that a voltage changeover from 11.3kV to 22.6kV in the medium-voltage grid must be implemented in the future. The actual voltage changeover is expected to start in 2035. The company has decided, with immediate effect, to purchase only switchable transformers. Stadtwerk Winterthur will be thus prepared for a future voltage changeover.
It is planned that over the contract period, the 100 switchable distribution grid transformers will be procured in individual orders or in very small batches of a few transformers each. Every year, around 10 distribution network transformers will be ordered from the supplier for specific projects.
