Israeli Network Electrification Project

Sissach, Switzerland, June 2019 – For the Israeli Network Electrification Project, Rauscher & Stoecklin will provide approx. 400 load-break switches. The customer SEMI was awarded by ISR, the railway administrator in Israel, with the electrification of the whole rail net of the country.

A part of the FTTJ (Fast Train to Jerusalem) has been in services between Ben Gurion Airport and Jerusalem since September 2018. When work is eventually concluded in 2023, trains will reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h and carry passengers between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in approx. 28 minutes. The electric railway line, the first in Israel, has required the construction of nine bridges and five tunnels. When complete, the project is expected to have cost around 2 billion Isreali shekel.

• 25kV with silicone insulators
• Completion scheduled for 2023
