New Antalya Light Rail Line

Subbiano Arezzo, Italy, October 2018 – To make sure the Antalya Education and Research Hospital is better connected and easier to access, a new light rail line in Antalya is in planning. Tesar will supply a total of 13 traction and 14 auxiliary transformers for this new and exciting project that will be realized by the MEP contractor Makyol.

The line, expected to be completed in 2019, will connect the village of Varsak in the northern part of the city to the Antalya Education and Research Hospital for a total length of 12 km and 13 substations. Makyol, one of Turkey’s leading contractor firms will be realizing this so-called light rail line “AntRay”. The Turkish company is known for their good work in heavy construction and infrastructure such as highways, airports, railways, tunnels, bridges, and more.

Tesar is proud to be part of this interesting project and will deliver:
• 13 x 2750 kVA traction transformers
31.5/0.6-0.6 kV with load duty class VI
• 14 auxiliary transformers from 160 kVA
to 2000 kVA 31.5/0.4 kV

The main challenges were the strong competition and the fast delivery time. Luckily, Tesar started from the privileged position of having already successfully supplied transformers for the Antalya Light Rail extension in 2016 (a total of 20 traction and auxiliary transformers). With the support of local partner AKTIF, Tesar was once again selected as the supplier of the needed transformers.

Tesar confirms its vocation for the traction applications, having supplied transformers for more than one hundred metro and tramway lines all around the world.
